What is Scratch?

Scratch is a block-based programming language developed by MIT to help beginners learn how to code. It teaches the fundamental programming concepts while providing an easy and interactive experience. The language supports coding logic that is present in every language.

Overview:

The Intro to Scratch class aims to teach students the basics of computer science and develop their problem solving skills. Throughout the course, students will learn how to create projects by using the various blocks found in the scratch editor. The class will also teach all concepts that are necessary for students to design their own games. All work will be done during the class, so no homework will be assigned.

Class Requirements:

A functional computer, tablet (not recommended), or laptop
An email address
Notebook and pencil for taking notes

Meet the teacher:

Steven Wang was interested in programming at a young age and has been using Scratch for over seven years. His scratch experience convince to try other high level languages. Currently, he is studying C++ to participate in his school robotics and wants to continue to improve his programming skills. In the past, Steven has taught two other scratch classes online. He hopes that he can inspire students to enjoy coding as much as he has.
