About Us

Thirty Years of Passing the Torch

Century Chinese Language School was founded on September 8, 1996, beginning with just 27 students and four teachers. Over the past three decades, the school has grown from its modest beginnings into a thriving weekend Chinese school rooted in Massachusetts and dedicated to serving the local community. This journey has been made possible through the shared efforts of generations of teachers, students, parents, and volunteers.

Since the school’s founding, we have remained committed to a simple yet steadfast principle: “Everything for the Children.” We believe that Chinese education is not only about learning a language, but also about preserving culture, strengthening connections to identity, and broadening our children’s view of the world. For thirty years, regardless of how circumstances have changed, this original mission has remained at the heart of our teaching, administration, and development.

Thirty years of growth have also shaped what we proudly call the “Century Spirit”: supporting one another, illuminating one another’s path, helping one another succeed, and moving forward together. Over the decades, members of the Board, principals and leadership teams, teachers, parents, and volunteers have all helped sustain the school through their responsibility, passion, and dedication. Together, they have enabled the Chinese language and Chinese culture to take root and continue to flourish in the lives of children growing up overseas.

From building the school from the ground up in its early years, to embracing digital learning and online classrooms, and now to offering an increasingly rich and diverse Chinese language and cultural education, we have always sought progress while remaining true to our principles, and innovation while honoring our traditions. Times change, and education evolves, but our commitment to “Everything for the Children” has never changed.

Thirty years represents a chapter of history, but it is also a new beginning. Looking ahead, we will continue to uphold our commitment to “Everything for the Children,” passing our sense of responsibility, our educational ideals, and our shared beliefs from one generation to the next. We hope that even more children will learn Chinese here, deepen their understanding of Chinese culture, and carry the strength and richness of that cultural heritage with them as they step into a broader world.
