Class Description | CLASS DESCRIPTION
Alternating weekly between story writing (Amy) and poetry (Katherine)
This class is for anyone who loves to imagine and create—kids and the young at heart!
Students will explore the art of storytelling and poetry through fun, unique weekly prompts, while also learning grammar, structure, pacing, and creative techniques.
We’ll encourage, but never require, students to share their work. The goal is simple: get students thinking and writing.
Sample Story Prompts:
- The happiest day in the world—or the saddest.
- A day in the life of a very grumpy person.
- What if you were the size of a mouse? Or a skyscraper?
- Something you think is unfair—why?
- A time you lied. What happened next?
Poetry Focus:
Students will discover different poetry styles, learn to express feelings with imagery and rhythm, and choose
their favorite forms to explore.
With extra time, they can work on their own “Book”—a longer project like a chapter book or poetry
collection—while getting feedback from teachers.
