Hello CCLS Family!
“The reeds are green, and the white dew is frost.” Today (September 8) is Bai-Lu in 2023. Bai-Lu is the third solar term in autumn. The arrival of BaiLu means that the heat is basically over and the weather is getting cooler. As we look forward to the coolness of autumn, we are even more eagerly looking forward to the start of the new school year and to seeing you at FSU this Sunday, September 10th! No matter whether you are new or returning, we welcome you to the CCLS family!
In this welcome letter, you will find a number of information items that hopefully will help you prepare successfully for the upcoming school year. Please take the time to read and share key messages with your students.
- School Calendar
- FSU WI-FI Information
- FSU Teaching Building Direction and Map
- Parking: All faculty and parents please park at Norman Hill Lot, which is the closest to Hemenway Hall, the teaching building of our Chinese school. Please use the gate (to the east) marked with the blue five-pointed star that is closest to the parking lot to enter the teaching building. Drop-off is strictly prohibited. Parking Permit — Normal Hill Parking Lot Visitor Parking Pass. This permit is for one school year. Please print it out and keep it in your car. Please park in the parking lot designated by FSU and strictly abide by FSU FSU parking rules and regulations.
- 2023-2024 CCLS Parent Safety Agreement. Please carefully complete all items on the checklist and read and understand FSU related policies, including parking regulations and policies, etc. Please sign this form and submit it to the school within two weeks of the start of school to acknowledge that you have read and agree to abide by this safety agreement.
- Consent and Video/Photo Release Form. Parents of students must sign this form within two weeks after the start of school.
- Classroom arrangement information
In order to ensure a safe and orderly start of school, the following points need to be paid special attention to:
- The school office is located near the rest area (Lounge) on the first floor of Hemenway Hall. Parents and students who need trial classes should first go to the office to notify Director Ms. Lu Yi (Chinese class) or Vice Principal Ms. Bai Yu ( Cultural Lessons). Please inform the student’s name, trial class, desired class, your contact information, etc.
- Sign in/Sign out system: For safety reasons, all students in Chinese schools below the sixth grade (including the sixth grade) need to be signed by their parents or trustees to pick them up. If you need others to help pick your child up, please email/wechat/text in advance to indicate who the person is to the teacher in writing. If there is no pick-up, parents need to write to the school to indicate that the child can come to and get out of class alone and the school will not be responsible for any safety responsibilities. If you miss 10 minutes after class is over, the child will be taken to the school office by the teacher. The school will provide paid supervision ($10 for 0~45 minutes; $20 for 46~90 minutes).
- Recess: There are many exits in the teaching building. In order to ensure the safety of students, activities can be carried out in the classroom during the break, but students are not allowed to leave the classroom. If a student is going to the bathroom, please be sure to hand over the student to the parent or TA on duty to take the student to the bathroom and bring them back to the classroom safely. Teachers can arrange appropriate rest activities according to the age characteristics of students, such as singing and doing exercises. Students can drink water in the classroom, but eating is not encouraged. If a student eats lunch or a snack, ask the student’s parent to clean up the classroom to keep it clean. When school is over, the teacher should check the cleanness of the classroom.
Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact us( mgmt.team@ccls-usa.org )。
Wishing you all a terrific school year!
