Class Description

Class Description : Are you curious about how living things grow, function, and interact with the world around us? This introductory biology course is designed for young learners who are interested in exploring the wonders of life science in a fun and engaging way.

Through interactive lessons, discussions, hands-on activities, and simple research projects, students will learn about cells and organelles, photosynthesis, ecosystems, evolution, human body systems, diseases, and other fascinating biological topics. The course will also introduce influential scientists such as Charles Darwin and Gregor Mendel, helping students understand how scientific discoveries have shaped our understanding of the natural world.

In addition to learning biology concepts, students will develop critical thinking, observation, communication, and presentation skills. They will have opportunities to explore health and medical topics, ask scientific questions, and share their ideas with classmates.

This course aims to foster curiosity, build confidence in scientific thinking, and inspire a lifelong interest in science. It is an excellent enrichment opportunity for students who enjoy learning about nature, health, and the living world.

About the Teachers

Aileen Li and Cindy Jin are high school juniors who are passionate about science and biology. They have completed coursework in Biology, Environmental Science, Chemistry, and Independent Research, and have experience tutoring fellow students in biology. They also participate in scientific research projects and enjoy exploring real-world applications of science. Through this course, they hope to share their enthusiasm for biology and inspire younger students to discover the excitement of scientific learning.
