Art: Color Pencil (P3 or P4)

Art Class (P3 or P4)

Teacher: Annie Chan
Minimum 6 students
Age: 6+

CLASS DESCRIPTION

Welcome to Art class with Annie and Coco! This class is intended for students ages 6-13. Throughout this course, students will explore the different media and styles of art. We will cover the fundamentals such as lines, shapes, texture, color, shading, space, value, composition, etc. From the new techniques and skills, students are enabled to develop their artistic knowledge, recognize dimensions, view different perspectives, and expand on their imagination. The lessons will include different types of art such as watercolor painting, colored pencil and marker drawings, designing, sketching, etc.

HOW IS THE CLASS RAN?

  • (apply to both periods although teachers Ms.Jiang teaches the third and Ms.Chan teachers the forth period)
  • In the beginning of the first few classes, we will be giving an introduction about ourselves
  • Please have all your materials ready before class
  • Usually we will give a lesson at the beginning of class. When we are done teaching we will answer any questions. After students can begin working on their art project and we will individually check in on them to give suggestions and advice. Some days, we will let students follow along on what I am doing. For example, we will teach them the first step and then, give them a certain amount of time to finish until we move on to the second step.
  • While some projects might require students to follow the teacher, most of the projects will be that we teach them a style and then, they come up with the idea. Each student’s idea might be different but, at the end, the styles, techniques, and skills learned will be the same. For example, if we teach them how to paint a fur technique, some students might choose to draw a dog and some may choose to draw a cat, at the end, they will be using the same technique.
  • Some art projects may take longer than others, so students will be given extra time in the next couple of classes to finish them. Students can also work on their art projects during their free time but if not, there should be plenty of time for them to finish in class.

ABOUT THE TEACHERS

Annie Chan is a young artist and designer around Boston, MA. She has studied art for 12 years. Annie has received 12 publications and 6 High Merit awards in the “Celebrating Arts Contest” and has been selected in the “National Constitution Poster Contest”. In school, she has made several contributions such as winning the yearbook art cover contest, nominated for her art, and selected from her school art competitions. Not only does she find passion in art but also, in design. She has joined the T-shirt Design Committee in which she had designed shirts that could represent her school and be worn to their school trip to Washington D.C. Annie continued to pursue her love in art and designing by opening her own online shop. From there, she sells hand-painted apparel and shoes. Her experience in teaching kids at local art camps has led her to recognize the growth process of students. She hopes that by opening an art course, she can share her knowledge and skills to those who feel greatly inspired by art. Annie Chan has been teaching art at the CCLS from Fall 2020.
